Kathleen O´Connell, M.D. |
|
Kathleen O´Connell, M.D. has over 25 years of experience
as a healthcare professional. Prior to launching KMOC Consultants,
Kathleen has over 11 years of successful experience as a Managed
Care Medical Director, most recently as Regional Medical Director
for UnitedHealthcare. She has extensive experience in managed
care; including pharmacy, quality, medical coverage policy,
utilization and sales support in Commercial, Medicare and
Medicaid plans. Prior to her managed care experience, Dr.
O´Connell led medical services for Pitney Bowes where
she developed benefit management strategies, wellness programs,
and disease management programs that won the C. Everett Koop
and the National Business Group on Health Awards.
Dr. O´Connell has presented disease management programs
at the National Managed Healthcare Congress and for the Disease
Management Association of America. An expert on health care
issues, Dr. O´Connell makes frequent media appearances
and has testified on healthcare bills for the Connecticut
Legislature. In addition, she has consulted extensively to
major pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. O´Connell holds a B.A. from Tufts University, an M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine, and a Masters in Management from the H. John Heinz, III School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University. She completed her residency at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University and her Fellowship at Boston Medical Center. Dr. O´Connell is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, and she holds a Certificate in Medical Management from the American College of Physician Executives, where she is active as a Vanguard Member.
